Free Realms’ innovative event calendar during its Snow Days, is an in-game daily guide to snowy activities taking place throughout the MMO world. Simply click on the daily event and your avatar is transported to the action. Rather than have our RobGoblin interns type it out for us, we’re just going to set up a magical teleportation gateway so you can zip right on over there and grab the Free Realms codes. To celebrate the quick arrival of the new 4 million registered players mark, SOE is Fgiving users double the Treasure Tickets – tickets which are usually awarded for hitting bonuses in mini-games, completing quests and otherwise. Treasure Tickets can be redeemed at the Royal Vault (under the entrance bridge in Sanctuary) to get some l33t gear. Free Realms really is a fascinating experiment – so much like the world’s most popular/successful MMO – World of Warcraft, but so different in terms of its desired userbase. It may very well be that this Fisher Price ideology becomes its undoing when an eventual sea change in its population takes place. But the level of complexity this (the addition of Guilds) seemingly simple addition adds to the world of Free Realms can not be understated. It is a massively multiplayer game, after all, and learning how to manage, coordinate, complete goals and organize groups of real people is one of the truly unique features of MMO gameplay. |
